OUR MISSION
The Focus Foundation is dedicated to helping children and families affected by X & Y Variations, Dyslexia, and/or Developmental Dyspraxia. The Focus Foundation believes that through increased awareness, early identification and syndrome-specific treatment, children with these conditions can reach their full potential.

The American Physical Therapy Association's site has information about pediatric physical therapy. You can also find a physical therapist in your area. The consumer tips "tummy time tools" is a great resource for infants. www.apta.org

Apraxia Kids has valuable information on childhood apraxia of speech (verbal dyspraxia, developmental apraxia of speech) and children's speech and language topics. www.apraxia-kids.org

Cosmos Learning Systems' computer software focuses on auditory discrimination, visual perception and discrimination, visual motor coordination, concept formation, verbal comprehension, logic and reasoning. (The company's innovative programs are designed for children between the ages of two and eight years old, with or without disabilities.) Mission Control is a computer interface device that enables a child to interact with Cosmo�s Play & Learn software and other software products. (It's compatible with both Windows and Mac computers.) Playground Discovery, the first software program in a series of educational tools, motivates children with entertaining activities designed to meet individual goals. Math-U-See provides a firm foundation in mathematics. The curriculum, which is reasonably priced and user friendly, provides a multi-sensory approach and focuses on the individual needs of each child. Administer the competency exam to determine placement and then purchase the curriculum for the level indicated. (The package should include the Teacher Pack, Student Text and the manipulatives.) The Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association site is a great resource for finding NDT certified specialists in your area. (Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) is an advanced, hands-on therapeutic approach practiced by experienced occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech-language pathologists.) www.ndta.org

Schwab Learning has been dedicated to helping parents make informed choices, become actively involved in their kids' education and advocate for high-quality teaching and learning.
